$25 million retirement complex to ‘headline’ new development project on NSW mid-north coast

1 min read

The five- to six-level retirement complex will be constructed through Bushland Health Group – a not-for-profit aged care provider based on the mid-north coast of NSW – as part of The Figtrees on the Manning development.

The Federal Government has also pledged $8.5 million towards both the complex and the wider precinct’s development, which will be built in Taree (two hours north of Newcastle).

Bushland currently has six other retirement villages and three residential aged care facilities in the area.

The group’s CEO, Denis Hawkins, said the complex is “an exciting opportunity to develop a new concept in retirement living.”

"Vertical retirement living with a broad range of resort style facilities close to services is something that more and more retirees are seeking and we want to help deliver that as another option for local retirees," Mr Hawkins said.

The new Figtrees precinct will also consist of retail outlets, a commercial marina and a repurposing of heritage dairy farming buildings.
