Aged Care Royal Commission receives 20,000 to 30,000 cases of substandard care: The Australian

1 min read

In an exclusive, the newspaper’s Social Affairs Writer Rick Morton has revealed the Commissioners’ request for information in November has seen the 100 largest providers report between 20,000 and 30,000 separate cases ranging from mild to severe ahead of the Royal Commission’s inaugural hearing on Friday.

There will be more cases, however. Smaller providers have until 8 February to respond to the request.

Public submissions to the Commission are also now open and will be accepted until at least mid-2019.

The Royal Commission officially kicks off this Friday.

Announcing the Commission in October, Prime Minister Scott Morrison had warned Australians to “brace ourselves for some pretty bruising information about the way our loved ones have been treated”.

Operators should do the same.
