Aged Care Workforce Council launches poignant campaign encouraging Australians to explore careers in aged care

The Aged Care Workforce Industry Council has launched a new campaign to encourage Australians to bring their skills, talents and passions into a rewarding career in aged care.

Titled “Bring Your Thing”, the work is part of a drive to triple the aged care workforce from around 366,000 to 980,000 by 2050.

The new campaign is in line with the Royal Commission’s Recommendation 74, stating that by 1 July 2022 the ACWIC should lead a national multimedia campaign to raise awareness of career paths and opportunities in aged care.

It’s hoped the campaign will demonstrate to people that there are many rewarding roles within the aged care sector and to inspire them to take up careers.

CEO of ACWIC, Louise O’ Neill said increasing the aged care workforce was of critical importance for the sector going forward.

“If the Government is planning to fulfil over 100,000 waitlisted home care packages by the end of the year then we are going to need a passionate and driven workforce to support this,” she said.
