The Western Australian provider, dedicated to supporting elderly individuals and people with disabilities, has planning approval for a huge Over 55s project.
Alinea won unanimous approval to start redeveloping its former quadriplegic centre at Shenton Park in Perth’s affluent western suburbs, 5km west of the city's CBD, which sits on a 1.9-hectare site.
The $40 million retirement-style development by Alinea, formerly the Spine and Limb Foundation, is the first of three stages of a planned 200-dwelling apartment-living complex. The approval includes:
- A five-storey building with 26 independent living retirement apartments and a site management office;
- A three-storey building with 20 independent living retirement apartments; and
- A single-storey club house with a functions area, gym, art studio and spa.
Western Australia’s Inner Metro Development Assessment Panel chair Clayton Higham said it is a “very good proposal”.
“We are in a desperate situation for accommodation in this state at the moment and I think this will make a great contribution towards the accommodation situation,” he said.
Alinea also operates Camelia Court Retirement Village in the inner northern Perth suburb of Bayswater.
