With 60 aged care homes in operation and more than 20 in the pipeline, the Melbourne-based aged care builder/operator is not slowing down.
Arcare, a subsidiary of family-owned property developer Knowles Group, has acquired a 9,871 sqm site in Idalia, Townsville, 1,000km west of Brisbane, for $3.2 million.
The site, at 2-10 Village Drive, has sat vacant for decades, and is now planned for a 105-bed aged care facility. It was sold via an Expression of Interest campaign three months ago, but Arcare has only just been confirmed as the purchaser.

Arcare's first Townsville aged care home, Arcare North Shore, is close to full occupancy, prompting the developer to look for another site in the city.
Arcare is reportedly planning to lodge plans for the aged care home with Townsville City Council mid-way through this year. The operator plans to commence building next year, and hopes to open in 2028.
Arcare has a development pipeline of around 1,000 beds and is set to open four aged care homes over the remainder of this year. It has brought forward the opening of its 118-bed aged care home in Hove, 12km southwest of the Adelaide CBD, to June.
Earlier this month we reported Arcare has received planning consent from South Australia's City of Tea Tree Gully local council to build a four-storey, 138-bed aged care home at Wynn Vale, 3km north of central Adelaide.
Selling agent Neville Smith, Queensland Senior Director, CBRE, said they were "thrilled" with the Townsville result.
Knowles Group also owns Sencia Retirement Villages, which has The Breeze retirement village in Port Lonsdale, 100km southwest of Melbourne.
