Australian Unity splits its Independent & Assisted Living brand into two

1 min read

Australian Unity has announced to the ASX that it is splitting its Independent & Assisted Living division, led by Kevin McCoy, into two.

The division will be replaced by:

  • Home Health: comprising home care (including Indigenous services) and Remedy Healthcare businesses to create an integrated healthcare platform to provide healthcare solutions for in-home, community and virtual settings; and
  • Specialist Care: comprising residential communities, dental and disability services businesses to deliver specialist capabilities in tailored operational settings.

Kevin, who has been at Australian Unity for over 10 years, has resigned and will leave the mutual fund.

Prue Bowden, Australian Unity’s Group Executive – People & Culture, has been appointed to lead the Home Health platform, while the Specialist Care platform will be led by David Lumb, currently Group Executive – Customer, Digital & Technology.

Group Managing Director Rohan Mead said the changes will better position the company to address the health and social challenges facing the community and its members.

“Australia’s ageing population and the linked rise in chronic disease and complex health needs has made us further consider how we as a company can best support the growing numbers of older Australians to age well,”
he said.

“The community’s expectations and preferences for aged care alongside sector reforms resulting from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety will disrupt, for the better, how aged care is delivered in this country.

“As the needs of our customers evolve, so too must our company’s operating arrangements re-shape to support them.”
