The funding will go towards policing quality, boosting specialist response teams for complaints, audits and compliance, and supporting consumers when failures occur according to Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt.

“There are expected to be more than 500 unannounced reaccreditation audits this financial year, along with an additional 2,700 unannounced site visits by assessment teams,” he said.

Announced in April, the ACQSC will bring together the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency (AACQA), Aged Care Complaints Commissioner and the aged care regulatory functions of the Department of Health under one national independent agency starting on 1 January 2019.
