Aveo unveils first aged care home in Brisbane at $36M

1 min read

The existing 25-bed aged care home was completely rebuilt to add 123 aged care beds in ensuite rooms over three storeys at their Durack village, 17km from the Brisbane CBD.

The flagship facility also includes a couples’ suite, dementia wing and respite rooms and is designed to allow residents at the village’s existing Independent Living Units and serviced apartments to age in place.

A full-time nurse and a GP will also be onsite as part of Aveo’s Enhanced Living Partnership Program with the University of Queensland.

Aveo are not the first to employ a GP to care for residents – as we reported here, Bupa began trialling GP’s in their aged care homes back in 2013.
