Builder Paul Harmon ‘very positive’ about land lease as he seeks second site in South Gippsland

Paul Harmon, owner of developer Harmon Group, has applied to build his second land lease development in Victoria’s South Gippsland region.

Paul told The Weekly Source that he was “very positive” about the land lease concept – where you buy your home and lease the land under a Residential Site Agreement. The agreement normally gives you access to community facilities.

“It is a growing market. We own and operate Sanctuary Lifestyle at Drouin and if approved, we will do the same at Leongatha,” he said, adding he has similar projects planned for Koo Wee Up, 63km south-east of Melbourne’s CBD, and Warragul, 102km south-east, of Melbourne’s CBD.

Harmon Group has applied to South Gippsland Shire Council to build a 158-lot, over 55s land lease development in Leongatha, which is located 135km south-east of Melbourne’s CBD. The two-bedroom and three-bedroom configurations will have single and double garages.

The community amenities planned include a bowling green, tennis court, recreation centre with swimming pool, gym and exercise area and a main community centre featuring a cinema, billiards and games area, function space and lounges.

Harmon Group’s first land lease development, a 170-lot site at Drouin, 57km from Leongatha, opened in May last year. The remaining homes are under offer at prices from $460,000 to $500,000.
