A development application by Churches of Christ in QLD to build alongside their existing aged care facility in Caloundra, has been approved by the Sunshine Coast Council, subject to 60 conditions.

Churches of Christ in Queensland submitted two development applications earlier this year to the council on the site where a 96-bed aged care service, aquatic centre and community centre opened in 2019.

With approval, construction of the 40-unit development, with 32 one-bedroom and eight two-bedroom units, and a second 10-unit building, is expected to be completed by mid-2023.

Property Group General Manager Scott Bird (pictured right) confirmed the Churches of Christ in Queensland had received formal approval from the Sunshine Coast Council.

“We are excited to be embarking on further development of our innovative Little Mountain campus, providing more options for Sunshine Coast seniors and offering a continuum of care that we know seniors want, in a vibrant and connected community,” said Scott Bird.

Queensland’s Sunshine Coast is a magnet for Over 55s development. Highgate Developments Group earlier this month were given approval to build The Grove, a 233-dwelling development in Highworth, on the outskirts of Nambour.
