Construction on Blue Care Sunrise Beach in Noosa QLD to begin next month

Queensland-based Not For Profit aged care provider Blue Care has awarded the construction contract for Blue Care Sunrise Beach, its new 102-bed RAC home with co-located retirement village at Noosa on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Local privately-owned firm BADGE will build the $100m+ project, designed by ThomsonAdsett, which will have capacity for 260 residents across both its aged care and retirement living sections. The design incorporates recommendations from the Royal Commission as well as public health advice on infectious disease prevention and control.

According to Cathy Thomas, UnitingCare Group Executive for Aged Care and Community Services, the new precinct and its “small house” model of eight- and nine-bed households around a central living area aim to deliver quality aged care in a post-COVID-19 world.

“We’re laying the foundations for better care, greater choice, and community connection. Research shows that integrated independent living and aged care homes provide the best care outcomes for residents and their families,” she said.

Construction is slated to begin in July despite recent headwinds concerning cockatoo habitats.
