Estia lodges plans to build $30M 118-bed aged care facility in Adelaide

The listed provider has lodged a development application to build a 118-bed aged care facility in Mount Barker, around 35km southeast of Adelaide.

As part of the proposal lodged to Mount Barker District Council, Estia would knock down the existing Mount Barker Baptist Church to make way for the $30 million facility.

Estia plans to start construction late next year, after the church’s lease expires in June.

Accommodation will consist of six wings, each with 18 to 20 residential rooms.

URPS planning consultant Joshua Skinner said the site is perfect to service the region’s growing population, expected to swell to over 56,000 by 2036.

“The facility is designed and will be managed in a way to provide flexible homelike environments, allowing residents to socialise, maintain skills and maintain some degree of independence as they wish,” he said.
