Farewell Ross Low, former CEO of BaptistCare NSW & ACT

1 min read

The sector is mourning the loss of Ross Low, the former CEO of BaptistCare NSW & Act, who passed away unexpectedly last week.

Ross was CEO of BaptistCare for 10 years from 2009 to 2019 and will be particularly remembered for his leadership during Australia’s first aged care COVID-19 outbreak at BaptistCare’s Dorothy Henderson Lodge in Sydney’s Macquarie Park.

“Ross retired as CEO of BaptistCare NSW & ACT and as Baptist Care Australia Board Director in August last year – a retirement which he had put on the backburner to lead BaptistCare through one of the biggest challenges in their 75 year history, the outbreak of COVID-19. This sacrifice was just one example of the truly beautiful nature of the man who selflessly worked in the service of others,” said BaptistCare Executive Director, Nicole Hornsby.

“The Baptist Care Australia Board and team were finally able to give Ross an in person retirement farewell only three weeks ago where he updated us on retirement life. Even after retirement his expertise and gentle wisdom was sought by many and he remained active in the aged care sector, including as Board Chair of Meaningful Ageing Australia.

“As one colleague put it “He was characterised by love”. It was something you felt when you met him and why so many people will feel the impact of his loss.”

Mr Low, who was succeeded as BaptistCare NSW and ACT CEO by Charles Moore, leaves a wife Anne and children.
