Foreign aged care investors to enjoy same incentives as local developers in Beijing

1 min read

The municipal government has announced For Profit providers will be able to register through the more preferential “green channel” and receive the same preferential treatment as local investors for new aged care developments.

The government will also support private operators by buying their services, providing facilities for free, offering subsidies and charging the same utility rates at nursing homes as households.

The city’s six main districts – Dongcheng, Xicheng, Haidian, Chaoyang, Fengtai and Shijingshan – will concentrate on care, education, information technology and financial services for elderly people.

In the suburbs, the focus in flat areas will be on nursing homes and seniors accommodation, while the more mountainous areas will look at recreation and tourism for elderly people.

Private providers are expected to operate at least 50% of Beijing’s aged care beds by 2020.
