Adjunct Professor Alan Lilly, who was the CEO of Victoria’s largest aged care provider BlueCross for 23 months during its merger with SapphireCare, has been appointed CEO of Jewish Care Victoria.

Jewish Care has three residential aged care homes, disability and support services and in-home services. It also runs an Active Living Centre.

Professor Lilly, recently appointed to the Victorian Public Sector Residential Aged Care Expert Advisory Group and the Victorian Consultative Council on Obstetric and Paediatric Mortality and Morbidity, succeeds Bill Appleby who had been in the CEO role since February 2010.

Professor Lilly has had vast experience as an executive and CEO for almost twenty years in the public health service and private aged care organisations. He was Chief Executive of Eastern Health for seven years, before joining BlueCross/Sapphire Care as CEO.

He worked extensively on matters related to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and has recently completed a number of independent reviews into COVID-19 outbreaks for the Commonwealth Department of Health.

In addition, Professor Lilly is a member of the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards Improvement Academy and is an Adjunct Professor with Australian Catholic University.
