Snake catchers have been called to a palliative care facility in central Canberra to remove a ‘massive’ eastern brown snake found in the grounds.
The 1.8 metre serpent was found at Clare Holland House in Barton, and at 1.83kgs was roughly twice the size of a normal adult eastern brown snake.
ACT Snake Removal’s Gavin Smith was reportedly surprised to find a snake so big.
“It took quite a wee while compared to a normal snake catch,” he said.
“This guy took a bit longer because he really didn’t want to get into the bag.”
The snake was weighed at Animal Referral Hospital Canberra, before being released into the wild.
