Goodwin hires new in-house pharmacist for its aged care homes

1 min read

Medication management is one of the biggest sources of complaints in residential care.

Now Goodwin Aged Care has appointed its second in-house accredited pharmacist to work across the ACT-based organisation’s four aged care homes as part of an initiative it first launched in December 2018.

A certified geriatric pharmacist and a qualified immuniser, Kirolos Wasef  (pictured above) will take over from its first in-house pharmacist Richard Thorpe to manage medication reviews and run the provider’s annual influenza vaccination program.

Goodwin reports that since the role was introduced, it has seen improvements and time reductions in medication rounds, allowing carers to spend more time with residents to provide other forms of support.
