Lutheran Home’s building 65 additional village homes in Barossa Valley for Adelaide buyers

Demand is driving the expansion of Lutheran Home’s Tanunda Retirement Living and Nuriootpa Retirement Living facilities in South Australia’s Barossa Valley.

“At Nuriootpa Retirement Living we are planning to build about 50 homes in five stages. Stage 1 is complete and we have sold six of the seven homes and have put out to tender for the other eight,” said CEO and Director of Care, Lee Martin.

“At Tanunda Retirement Living we are constructing 15 units. Five are already completed.”

Mr Martin said the expansion was on a block of land bought from the South Australian Government.

“Most of the houses are three bedroom with a double garage and this tends to suit would-be buyers,” he said.

“We are finding that the new residents are coming to the Barossa Valley from Adelaide, the northern parts of South Australia and the Riverland region. The price of houses here is half the price of those elsewhere. People are selling their homes in Adelaide for over $1 million and buying a three-bedroom home with double garage here for $385,000 and putting the rest into Super.”
