Lutheran Services lodges plans for seven-storey aged care facility in Brisbane – two storeys above zoned height limit

1 min read

The Not For Profit wants to build 184 aged care units as the second stage of its Zion home at Nundah, 8km southeast of the CBD – an area that is only zoned up to five storeys.

The proposal has resulted in 19 submissions from residents, all opposing the height of the facility with some concerned it will set a precedent for future development.

However, Lutheran’s application states that the proposed height is “supported in principle” and aligns with the Council’s ‘Retirement Living and Aged Care Accommodation Incentives’.

Lutheran do have another ace in their sleeve. They are currently building their eight-storey Alondra Residences village with 52 boutique apartments on the same site.

Founded by the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District in 1935, Lutheran Services now has 10 aged care facilities and 10 retirement villages across QLD.
