Nieves Murray marks 10 years as CEO of IRT Group

Making aged care “sexy” was the main priority for the head of the Illawarra-based provider when she took on the role a decade ago, according to The Illawarra Mercury.

Today, Ms Murray is regarded as a leader in the aged care sector, expanding IRT to Queensland and the ACT. The community based Not For Profit now has 26 locations with 2,300 staff providing care and housing for 9,000 residents.

They have also pioneered some of the industry’s most innovative programs and research, including their IRT Foundation promoting age-friendly communities. Murray says she is most proud and their Kemira village at Kanahooka which allows ageing people with intellectual disabilities to live with their carers.
