Noble Ventures submit plan for retirement village in $500M staged development in Tasmania’s Derwent Valley

Queensland-based Noble Ventures, brothers Roger and Daniel Noble, have submitted its first plans, including 198 independent-living retirement homes, for The Mills, a $500 million residential and community project at New Norfolk in Tasmania’s Derwent Valley, 30 minutes’ drive from Hobart CBD.

The plan for a retirement village has been lodged with Derwent Valley Council. The plan for a four-star five-storey hotel has been released for public consultation. A childcare centre planning application was approved by council in September last year.

Construction has already begun on 700 residential lots, which already had a permit under previous owners. Noble Ventures intend to have submitted development applications for a hotel, hospital and marketplace with council by the end of the year.

The land for the central precinct is about 550 metres from the town centre, on the site of the former Royal Derwent Hospital.

Mayor Ben Shaw said it was the biggest sub-division in the Derwent Valley since the 1980s.
