Betty Miller, 70, had pleaded guilty to possessing the poison – which is found naturally in castor beans – earlier this year after the US Attorney's Office and the FBI found that she made the poison in her apartment and then tested it on fellow residents in her Vermont continuing care community by putting it into their food and beverages.
No serious illnesses or fatalities related to the poisonings were reported thankfully.
Miller’s sentence will also include “extensive mental health treatment” – much-needed we suspect.
