QLD: Ozcare lodges proposal for $200M vertical village and aged care facility in Newstead – just 500m from the 19-storey Aveo Newstead

The Not For Profit aged care provider has lodged plans for two towers – one 21 storeys and the other 16 storeys – on a 6,180sqm site that it acquired from Mirvac in January 2018.

Designed by Brisbane firm Conrad Gargett, the development will offer 120 aged care beds and 142 independent living units aimed at the high-end market and house Ozcare’s offices as well as retail and commercial space.

The development will also feature an outdoor recreation deck plus a cinema, library, billiard and media room, dining room and lounge, outdoor rooftop pool and barbecue area – not so different from Aveo’s flagship Newstead development which is located just 550 metres away.

Brisbane has seen a swathe of high-rise retirement and aged care developments in recent years, including Aveo’s 16-storey village at Labrador on the Gold Coast, RetireAustralia’s first eight-storey apartment development at Lutwyche, Denmac Nominees’ 12-storey co-located development in Windsor; and Japara’s $30 million aged care facility in Robina.
