Queensland looks to improve rent, unsold home issues at 103 land lease communities and 99 residential parks

The Queensland Government is looking for consumer feedback on improvements to manufactured home parks and land lease communities.

According to figures provided by the State Government, there are currently 202 residential parks with 23,453 manufactured home sites across Queensland; 99 of these are “mixed use” with additional sites for caravans and other accommodation, with the remaining 103 purpose-built communities being used exclusively for manufactured homes.

The State Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy has released an issues paper seeking input on concerns raised by stakeholders about site rent increases and the sale of manufactured homes, and launched a survey for current and former manufactured home residents with submissions open until 15 August.

“We’re seeking community input on whether we have accurately identified and described these issues, or if there are other issues that should be addressed." the Government said.

“We’ll use the information gathered from the survey and feedback on the issues paper to better understand the issues affecting residential parks and to identify potential improvements. We’ll seek community input into any potential improvements at a later stage.”
