Regional Scottsdale TAS, with a population of 2373, doubles its village to 136 homes

Not For Profit Northbourne Park Retirement Village in Tasmania has officially opened a new expansion, which will double its independent living villas from 68 to 136.

Located 62 kilometres northeast of Launceston, the villas will feature different design options and materials with 19 to be added in the first stage.

According to chair Robin Thompson, the completed expansion will represent a capital investment of around $30 million, and was made possible through a combined purchase and donation of neighbouring land from the late Bert and Peggy Farquhar.

The infrastructure to support the first component of the development has been completed with an investment of $3.2 million through a partnership arrangement between Northbourne, Commonwealth, state and local governments.

Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein and Bass MP Bridget Archer were among the guests at the opening event; Northbourne Park first announced the expansion in October.
