SA home care provider hires 13 mature age trainees after reskilling course completion

1 min read

The trainees graduated from My Care Solution’s pre-traineeship program earlier this week as part of a $132,000 Skilling South Australia Project designed to provide people aged 45 and over with skills they can apply to occupations in aged care.

“Our Mature Age Traineeship differs from traditional aged care traineeships with participants first completing the Preparing to Care course to ensure they are truly suited to the demands of the role,” said Executive Director, Mark McBriarty.

“This front-end to our traineeship allows participants to complete a few modules of the Certificate III in Individual Support together with modules of our in-house training program to get a feel for the industry.”

Graduates are set to complete 10 months of study and on-the-job learning.

After that they’ll receive their Certificate III in Individual Support and following the completion of their Traineeship will be offered employment with My Care Solution.

As we covered here earlier this year, the South Australian Government is investing $1.4 million in total to train 300 aged care workers through nine projects – a cost of around $5,000 per person.
