Sundale relocates former McGowan Care Centre residents to refurbished rooms

Residents from Sundale’s shuttered McGowan Care Centre in Nambour, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, have been relocated to new homes.

The nearby James Grimes Care Centre (pictured), which is undergoing a million-dollar internal refit including floors, lights, paint, and joinery, has taken on a number of former McGowan residents.

According to Sundale CEO Helen Sharpley, residents can now have their own private rooms, and many of the transfers from McGowan are now living in refurbished spaces.

“I’ve spoken to a number of residents at James Grimes Care Centre and they are thrilled with the upgrades to their rooms. They’re light, bright and have plenty of space.

“This, coupled with our amazing team of carers, nurses and lifestyle coordinators, means residents receive unmatched care,” she told the Sunshine Coast News.

Around 35 residents were moved from the outdated McGowan home on its closure in March, with Bowder Care Centre and Rod Voller Care Centre taking those who did not move to James Grimes.
