WA Nationals promise $15M for seniors’ housing in Coral Coast town ahead of state election

The Western Australia Nationals have pledged $15 million to construct new seniors’ units in Kalbarri, a coastal town 500km north of Perth, if they win office in the State Election on 13 March.

North West Central member and spokesman for Industrial Relations, Transport, Tourism, Lands and Small Business, Vince Catania, told The West Australian the funding was designed to keep ageing locals in the town when they chose to downsize their home.

‘’A range of modern facilities and services is a non-negotiable for our regional communities and is often a key consideration for people deciding to come to work and live in our towns,” he said.

According to the most recent Census data, the median age of Kalbarri’s 1,557 residents is 51.
