$580M village 2010 DA now a $22 million Northern Beaches seniors living plan

1 min read

The Frenchs Forest site (19 kilometres north of Sydney CBD), has been subject to several controversial applications over recent years – and is again in the spotlight following plans to build 41 independent living units (pictured).

As reported here, legendary NSW developer Sid Londish first submitted proposals to local council for the site in 2010 – pitching a $580 million retirement living project consisting of 20 three- and four-storey buildings. He was aged 86 in 2010 and passed away last year aged 94.

Local residents apparently have a strong voice. Applicant Dukor 24 Pty (an unknown company seemingly new to the sector) has submitted a proposal for the development at the site off Oxford Falls Rd – with residents voicing concerns over potentially negative environmental impact and disruption of the “quiet” local area.

The site was also recently approved for a 71-bed aged care facility despite local opposition, but this facility will instead be replaced with Dukor’s planned ILUs, while carparking spaces will also increase from 36 to 95 spaces under the new plans.
