BaptistCare NSW & ACT officially opens $60M Yarra Rossa retirement village

The Not For Profit provider’s CEO Charles Moore officially opened its 10th retirement village, Yarra Rossa, last Friday, with resident Gladys Bergerson cutting the cake to a warm round of applause.

Located in Red Hill, the 100-apartment Yarra Rossa was built on the site of the ACT's first aged care home, Morling Lodge, which BaptistCare opened in 1968 and is its first retirement village in the ACT.

Gladys, in her early nineties, was the first resident to place her deposit. She was at the opening of Morling Lodge in 1968, and now she returns to the site to live.

“Seven years I waited, and I suppose it’s not very surprising to learn I was one of the first to go over to the sales office at Red Hill,” she said.

BaptistCare already operates two aged care homes, Griffith Centre (Griffith) and Carey Gardens (Red Hill), plus home care and community services in the ACT.
