Bignold Park SRS facility in Bendigo, Victoria, ordered to close

1 min read

Bignold Park, a 30-bed Supported Residential Service (SRS) facility in Bendigo, Victoria, has been told to close by the Victorian Government’s Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH).

Florentino Health Care Services Pty Ltd, who took over management of Bignold Park in January 2018, blamed staffing and financial problems for its demise.

"The residents were crying (when told of the closure), they've been here for quite a long time, staff were very upset. There's only about 20 there, and it's like a home for them," said Florentino Health Care Services Pty Ltd’s owner, who wished to remain anonymous.

Bendigo Community Health Services visited the facility on Tuesday and is organising the transfer of the 21 residents at Bignold Park. 11 people live permanently at the home, with a further seven on a short-term basis, and two people in respite care.
