IRT plans community-integrated seniors housing project on NSW South Coast

1 min read

IRT is moving ahead with plans for a new seniors housing development in Moruya, on the NSW South Coast, with an emphasis on connection between residents and the wider Eurobodalla community.

Before lodging its State Significant Development Application, the Not For Profit hosted a community information session and released concept plans for the 18ha site, 305km south of Sydney.

Jason Webster, IRT Group’s Development Manager, said the project had been designed to embed community links from the outset.

“The masterplan is designed to deliver a range of experiences and create connection, not just within the seniors living community but also with the broader Eurobodalla region,” he said.

The draft plan outlines a mix of retirement living, residential aged care, and worker accommodation across apartments and villas. Lifestyle and health amenities would also be included, such as a hydrotherapy pool, library, café and clubhouse. The intention is for many of these facilities to be publicly accessible.

A purpose-built aged care centre is proposed for the north-east of the block, alongside small-scale retail spaces and walkable streets.

Daniel Pantelas, Associate Director – Urban Design at Ethos Urban, told the meeting that traffic assessments are underway and internal fire roads will be incorporated given the bushfire-prone location.

Jason said IRT sees the development as a fresh concept for seniors living in the region.

“This is very much a new idea, a new concept that we’re excited about, which draws on all of the site’s opportunities.”

The plans remain subject to change, with IRT to refine the proposal in line with public feedback before formally lodging its application later this year.
