The veteran Queensland developer has ventured south of the border for his second seniors living venture.

In late February, David Devine announced his new venture DD Living which is dedicated exclusively to delivering ultra-premium, wellness-driven communities tailored to the active and cashed-up Baby Boomers market.

His first development is a $1.5 billion over-55s project in Southport which is currently before the City of Gold Coast. The project would deliver 626 independent living apartments across three towers rising above a shared podium on the 1.4-hectare former Star of the Sea school site within the Southport Priority Development Area.

Now The Weekly SOURCE can reveal that DD Living is behind Oasis, Byron Bay, an over-60s project which is in the design development phase, with its final form evolving.

The site is a former caravan park that will be re-imagined as a 200-unit seniors living development, with extensive wellness and recreational facilities.

“Currently, it is anticipated the Butler Street site, 500 metres from the town centre, will house about 200 senior living apartments. Further, it will provide about 2600msq of floor space for wellness facilities, about 360msq for a wellness hub, and a further 300msq for recreation and support facilities,” said Planners North.

“The project will include a wide array of recreational facilities, including swimming pools, tennis courts, community gardens, as well as changing rooms, toilets, showers, storage, and the like.

“A children’s playground designed for active, imaginative play, as well as a fenced dog park for safe, off-leash play and pet socialising, is proposed. The Butler Street site will also have a centralised back-of-house facility supporting the entire operation and caravan parking.

“At Bay Street, a café will front the Street at ground level, and a range of change rooms, medical rooms, yoga- and Pilates-type facilities, as well as a pool, will be provided. At levels 2 and 3, lounge, kitchen and games areas are also envisaged.”
