Anglicare Sydney plans $300M seniors living development at Sandon Point (Wollongong), with cut back care beds

1 min read

The Not For Profit has been holding community information meetings about its proposed development for 229 independent living units and a residential aged care facility with 41 beds in Bulli.

Detailed planning of the concept design is now underway, under a State Significant Development (SSD) application. A 2019 proposal was for 140 independent living units, an 80-bed aged care facility and 55 residential dwellings.

The Sandon Point development is the third stage of a concept initially approved by the NSW Government in 2007. Residential developments immediately to the north and south of the Anglicare site have been completed under the same concept approval.

“We believe our current design and delivery method for this development is in line with the expectations of seniors while also being sensitive to the priorities of the Bulli and Thirroul communities," Anglicare’s Development Manager Daniel Jukic said.

The Anglicare development will also feature retail, medical and lifestyle amenities including a café, and restaurant which will be available for public use with more than 460 underground car spaces on site.
