Community-owned provider IRT will reveal a “bold new vision” for its proposed seniors’ living community in Milton, 222km southwest of Sydney, at a series of community drop-in sessions and an online webinar in mid-October.
The project – first approved in 2021 after IRT purchased land on the Princes Highway – has been re-imagined to better reflect the region’s needs, with design input now sought from locals.
“Our vision is to deliver a flagship destination that sets a new benchmark for seniors’ living on the NSW South Coast, combining modern accommodation with spaces that foster wellbeing, lifestyle and community connection,” IRT CEO Ross Gallagher said.
The Milton project is part of IRT’s 800-home pipeline across Greater Western Sydney, the Illawarra and the South Coast over the next decade.
What’s planned
The updated design includes:
- Retirement village with premium villas, apartments and units for independent living
- Residential aged care centre purpose-built for future residents
- Short-term and key worker accommodation to support local health services and visiting families
- Lifestyle and wellbeing facilities such as a wellness centre, gym, hydrotherapy pool and sauna
- Social spaces including a central market square, clubhouse, café, library, pharmacy and convenience store
- Green open spaces with parks, gardens, BBQs, and walkable streets and pathways
IRT also has a State Significant Development Application underway for a separate integrated community at Moruya, 85km further south.
