Family operator doubles down on aged care and childcare
Construction has started on a 126-bed aged care facility alongside a childcare centre

A growing number of aged care operators are diversifying into childcare – and now another provider is joining the shift.

Victorian-based family-owned aged care operator Embracia is pursuing a strategy of co-locating residential aged care with childcare with two major projects underway.

Construction has begun on a 126-bed aged care facility in the town of Kyneton, 85km northwest of Melbourne. Embracia already operates a childcare facility on the site, which sits alongside the historic Old Kyneton Hospital. The new home is expected to open later this year, according to their website.

Embracia also operates the 161-bed Embracia Moonee Valley, an aged care facility 5km north of the Melbourne CBD, which opened in June 2017. This year, the company will begin construction of a co-located childcare centre on the site.

Embracia Reservoir, located 12km north of the Melbourne centre, opened 17 years ago but has recently been extended and refurbished. Today, it is home to 104 residents.

“Something special is taking shape in Kyneton,” said construction project managers Connect PM.

Connect PM will manage the project, with Infinity Constructions Group appointed as builder.

Embracia Aged Care was founded more than 30 years ago by Peter and Dawn MacKenzie. Today, their daughter Sarah MacKenzie acts as Managing Director.
