Fairfax’s Adele Ferguson wins Walkley Award for retirement village investigation

Published on

Regarded as the pinnacle for quality journalism, Ferguson, together with Sarah Danckert and Klaus Toft, were awarded a Walkley Award for Investigative Journalism last week for their “Bleed Them Dry Until They Die” project, a joint Fairfax Media/ABC investigation into Aveo retirement villages (June 2017).

Aveo questioned many of the facts behind the program, providing supportive evidence to the Editorial Director of Fairfax, Sean Aylmer, immediate after the event. This evidence was dismissed out of hand by Aylmer.
