Fed Govt moves on John Pollaers’ aged care workforce report – announces new Aged Services Industry Reference Committee (IRC)

The IRC will be responsible for reviewing and developing national competency standards for aged care workers, one of the key findings from the Aged Care Workforce Strategy Taskforce report, ‘A Matter of Care’, released by the Government last month.

Its members will include health, aged care and education and training representatives including COTA CEO Ian Yates; retiring Helping Hand Aged Care CEO Ian Hardy AM; Warrigal CEO Mark Sewell; Regis CEO Ross Johnston; Juniper CEO Chris Hall; and Villa Maria Catholic Homes CEO Sonya Smart.

The IRC will also be looking at ways to improve career pathways for workers – a critical issue with the workforce expected to triple to almost one million by 2050.
