GemLife’s bid to build about 100 manufactured homes on Tweed Heads site splits council

1 min read

Land lease operator GemLife has sought permission to build an estimated $13.8 million manufactured home development at Tweed Heads South, in north-eastern NSW, onsite rather than offsite as required by the approval.

GemLife, a joint venture between parent company, Living Gems, and financial partner, Thakral Capital, has approval to put 147 homes on the site, which will be the business’ seventh land lease development.

Tweed Shire Council decided to defer a decision on GemLife’s application after being given three options by council staff:

  1. support the construction of the manufactured estate on site;
  2. To support it with some specific sites excluded and,
  3. to refuse the request.

The matter will go before council in under two weeks.
