Green light for GemLife extension of Woodend land lease community (VIC)

1 min read

A planning permit application from the QLD-based GemLife to add 27 units to its existing community (72 kilometres north-west of the Melbourne CBD) was approved by local council earlier this month.

Objections were raised at the council meeting from some councillors regarding how the extra units would “fit in with the town’s character” – as well as concerns that the extension would “take away land” that could serve as an aged care facility and was therefore not appropriate.

As we reported here, GemLife (a partnership between the family-owned Living Gems and the Singaporean property developer Thakral) bought the Woodend site in 2017 for $20 million.
