Ingenia refreshes its home care program as more residents seek to ‘connect’

1 min read

Ingenia has updated its free home care program, which focuses on connecting residents to services and support in order to assist them in continuing to live independently.

Formerly known as Ingenia Care, the program has been given updates for 2022, including changing the name to Ingenia Connect in order to allay any unease about the term “care”. The program has a number of partners including Silver Chain, My Home Care and Five Good Friends, each servicing different geographic regions.

According to Madonna Jackson, Ingenia Communities Portfolio Manager Ingenia Gardens and Ingenia Connect, it has been developed using learnings on delivering care programs gained over the past 14 years.

“Ingenia Connect builds relationships with local health and community services to tailor care and support to individuals, removing the need for residents to find services themselves.

“Our residents then choose the provider they feel most comfortable with, giving peace of mind to families,” she said.

Ms Jackson told The Weekly SOURCE that the program has extended the average length of stay from 3.3 to 4.5 years, with around 1,000 current participants – up from 750 a year ago.

“Developing relationships with the residents and supporting them to attend health and well-being programs helps them connect.

“The Ingenia Connect program brings them out of their homes to attend when they might have been a little bit lonely or they might have been a little bit reluctant.

“If they have a purpose to come out and meet people and be a part of a program, we've seen residents actually develop friendships. It helps build our communities as communities,” she said.

The program was launched for rental village residents as Ingenia Care in 2014.
