Construction of a wellness precinct for Lendlease’s new independent living development Sherwin Rise, in Wollert, 25kms north of Melbourne CBD, has begun.

A sod turning and smoking ceremony was held on Friday (2 July) to mark the commencement of capital works for the clubhouse and wellness precinct, which will span over 1,000m/sq in building floor area and feature an indoor swimming pool and spa, gym, bar, café, cinema, games room, library, outdoor covered BBQ with alfresco patio, lawn bowls court and more.

“This precinct has been designed to be sustainable, while supporting residents’ lifestyle needs. The new clubhouse will feel like an extension of residents’ homes, allowing them to connect socially and enhance their health and wellbeing in a luxurious setting,” said Nathan Cockerill, Managing Director, Lendlease Retirement Living.

Lendlease has also partnered with senior health specialists Five Good Friends, with a Wellbeing Coordinator to join the village management team to help promote independence and wellness to residents and support their physical and mental health.

Local architectural building firm, Sinjen Group, will construct the 100% fossil-fuel free development, which will be connected to Sherwin Rise’s existing large-scale interconnected community solar system and private energy grid.

Lendlease is targeting completion of construction of the clubhouse precinct in mid-2022.

Five Good Friends village concierge service is gaining momentum. CEO, Simon Lockyer, says “We are excited to be providing a wellness approach to the Sherwin Rise retirement community. A wellness approach will help residents to gain an understanding of how their lifestyle affects health and wellbeing as they age. We want to empower residents to have a ‘Plan to Grow Older Well’.”
