Regional operator eyes retirement village expansion

Strong demand for homes at a South Australian retirement village has prompted the operator to rethink its expansion plans.
Barunga Village Inc CEO Elizabeth Carroll said the community-owned and operated organisation is progressing plans to expand its retirement village, Barunga by the Sea, in Port Broughton, a small town about 170 km northwest of Adelaide.
“Our current masterplan provides for an extension of up to approximately 80 additional retirement living villas,” she said, up from earlier plans for 50 villas.
The organisation’s recent demand analysis showed strong demand for new retirement living options in Port Broughton and the surrounding region.
The Weekly SOURCE reported last week that Barunga Village had lodged a planning application for the 48-bed Richmond House, an extension of the operator’s existing aged care home, Barunga Homes.
