A show of force by numbers failed last week for protesters trying to convince Cairns Regional Council to block the redevelopment of the Paradise Palms golf course (pictured) – which is set to include a retirement village, luxury homes and a tourist park.
As we reported here, residents have been petitioning against the development since February of this year (before a development application was even lodged).
Residents also declined a “bargain” land deal offer to each of them by Paradise Palms’ Managing Director, Darren Halpin, which he hoped would help gain support for the development.
Mr Halpin said the process of removing some of the golf course’s lush greens began last week.
