RetireAustralia wants independent living apartments in place of assisted care units at its Erina, Central Coast village

RetireAustralia has gone back to Central Coast Council to seek changes to its approved $19 million expansion of its Tarragal Glen Retirement Village, at Erina, on the NSW Central Coast.

New plans show it wants to replace 54 assisted care apartments with 42 independent living apartments, with the owner/operator owned by Infratil and NZ Super, stating there is greater demand for independent living apartments in the area.

“The ILAs are to be maintained within the same building form as currently approved – that being four storeys, consisting of three levels of apartments over a basement carpark – with a similar footprint and at the same (or less) height,” the plans state.

There will also be an increase in parking from 31 spaces to 38 spaces.

Other changes include modified pedestrian access and deleting plans to upgrade the kitchen and back of house facilities at the existing building known as The Manor.

The proposed development will be split into two stages with the first including demolition and upgrade works. Stage two will be construction of the four-storey apartment building.

Tarragal Glen Retirement Village has 438 homes/units with country club facilities, pools, and a bowling green.
