Southern Cross Care (SCC) proposes $24 million aged care facility and village for Sydney’s west

1 min read

The four-storey, 100-bed facility has been proposed for a block of land next to the decommissioned St John’s Catholic Church in Campbelltown – an hour south-west of Sydney CBD.

The not-for-profit SCC originally purchased the site for $4.5 million five years ago.

SCC said the design of the proposed facility is “sensitive” to the surrounding area as a neighbouring site to the historical 200-year-old church, which is one of the oldest remaining in the country.

The church will form an integral part of the retirement village as its central activity hub, and residents will be able to access it via landscaped gardens.

According to The Macarthur Chronicle, SCC also has further development plans earmarked for the site – with a masterplan currently in the works to eventually include a retirement village featuring low-rise apartments, villas and a community centre.
