Unannounced Visits to Nursing Homes to be Increased to 3,000 per Year

The previously announced increase in inspections to 7,000 a year has been given added weight –the Federal Minister Justine Elliot this week declaring that nearly 45 percent of them will be unannounced. Quoted in The Australian as saying: “I am unapologetic about the tough measures,” Ms. Elliot said all homes should expect at least one surprise visit a year. There are 2,870 homes across Australia.
