The Not For Profit – which has 11 aged care homes across Melbourne and regional Victoria – has purchased the Country Club Lodge in Safety Beach (pictured) and Shoreham House in Shoreham on the Mornington Peninsula from Buehler Aged Care.

Mecwacare took ownership of the 45-bed and 60-bed homes – the only two operated by Buehler – respectively from 1 April 2020, re-naming them mecwacare Calwell Manor (Safety Beach) and Mecwacare Annie’s Court (Shoreham) after two long-serving Board Members Susan Calwell and Anne Court.

Mecwacare has over 2,000 staff and 450 volunteers and CEO Michele Lewis said she was delighted to welcome Buehler’s 105 residents and 150 staff and volunteers to their organisaton.

As part of the sale, both organisations have guaranteed residents’ current arrangements will not change and staff have been offered their existing positions and conditions, including entitlements.
