Affordable housing – where are the Not For Profits?

Is this today's water cooler moment? And is Lauren Broomham right or off the mark?

In the latest issue of SATURDAY's Lauren's Opinion article is the most read.

"One of my strongest takeaways in preparing this edition was that private operators like Aspen Group and Eureka Group Holdings are taking on affordable housing as they aggressively expand," she writes.

"Both have shareholders that they need to report their profits to every other week. Both must be profitable – or they don’t have a business."

She continues:

"But many charities and community-run organisations have washed their hands of the space unless there is significant Government support."

Ouch.
