ECH looking for operators for two new community cafes in Adelaide

1 min read

The South Australian Not For Profit is seeking expressions of interest to run two community cafes in its village and ‘hotel’ just north of the Adelaide CBD.

ECH (Enabling Confidence at Home) aims to run a café at its Encore Apartments in Modbury, currently under construction and the ECH Care Hotel in Walkerville.

When complete the Encore Apartments will be a vertical village featuring 77 two-bedroom independent retirement living apartments, while the ECH Care Hotel site offers short-stay accommodation and serviced apartments.

ECH chief executive David Panter says it’s all about keeping the neighbourhood connected and offering residents a place where they can engage in social activities.

“When people have a welcoming meeting location in their neighbourhood, they are more likely to connect with each other, feel part of their community and live more fulfilling lives,” Dr Panter said.

“ECH has many residents and clients living independently in their own homes in both areas, and these new cafés will provide opportunities to stay connected with their community and remain socially active.”
